Helpful tips
Set the mood - use dimmer switches to reduce light levels at different times of the day and increase energy savings. Make sure your dimmer switch is compatible. Fixture manufacturers can provide a list of approved dimmers switches.
Pick the right colour for your space; there are lots of options. Lower Kelvin numbers (like 2000 K) provide a soft, warmer light while higher Kelvin numbers (like 4600K) provide a whiter light.
For maximum savings, pair an ENERGY STAR certified bulb with your ENERGY STAR certified fixture. Think about the fixture and bulb as a unit. Both the design of the fixture and the bulb it uses affect the quality and efficiency of the light.
Don’t wait to renovate, replace older light fixture bulbs with ENERGY STAR certified bulbs.
